Commercial Corridor Challenge
In 2018, the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce was able to assist many businesses through the Commercial Corridor Challenge, a new program that strengthens and revitalizes commercial corridors through strategic interventions.
Thanks to the support of Local Initiatives Support Corporation and Citi Community Development, as well as the NYC Department of Small Business Services, the Chamber was able to assist Stapleton merchants with a number of storefront improvement projects, including new signage, planters, chalkboard A-frames, and more.
Downtown Staten Island Weekend Walk
On Saturday, October 13 in 2018, the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce and the NYC Department of Transportation brought the first ever Downtown Staten Island Weekend Walk to Stapleton. Bay Street between Water Street and Vanderbilt Avenue was closed to traffic and open for fun activities including lawn games, music, a live stickball exhibition, a skate & scooter demonstration, and more.
