The 2018 Stapleton Storefront Enhancement Grant Program
a Project of the Commercial Corridor Challenge
In 2018, the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce was able to assist many businesses through the Commercial Corridor Challenge, a new program that strengthens and revitalizes commercial corridors through strategic interventions.
Thanks to the support of Local Initiatives Support Corporation and Citi Community Development, as well as the NYC Department of Small Business Services, the Chamber was able to assist Stapleton merchants with a number of storefront improvement projects.
Planters & Flowers
Flowers and planters were placed around the neighborhood to bring beauty and cohesion. Merchants were provided with watering cans to keep things growing!
Chalkboard A-frames
Chalkboard A-frames were provided to help merchants promote their business. The Downtown Staten Island logo on each one helps unify the community!
Paint & Refurbishing
Oznico, Edgewater Hall, and Legacy African Markets were freshened up with newly applied paint. In total, four roll-down security gates were painted.
